Manchester United’s head of first-team development Nicky Butt believes the likes of Angel Gomes and Mason Greenwood have a genuine chance of securing regular gametime under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this term. The young pairing have not featured in any of the Under 23 games for the Red Devils to date and it appears quite clear that they are in the plans of Solskjaer.
In a report covered by The Manchester Evening News, Butt mentioned the names of Gomes and Greenwood when asked about the players, who could make the breakthrough from the academy, he said: "I think it's unfair to settle on one. I think Gomes could set alight this season and do really well, he's matured and got a lot stronger. Purely for the excitement and the fans I think Greenwood is going to be a real, real superstar if he keeps his feet on the ground, he's patient and he scores the goals that he can. He's both footed, he's a big, strong, powerful kid who can score goals and he's still very much a young boy who's likeable."

Netherlands legend Ruud Gullit does not see Matthijs de Ligt making the move to Manchester United during this summer’s transfer window. The Ajax captain has been widely fancied to secure a big-club move this summer and he has been linked with the likes of United, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.
Speaking at the Costa Smeralda Invitational, Gullit acknowledged that the Red Devils face a tough task of signing the young defender, given they have failed to qualify for next season’s Champions League, he said: “I don’t think Man United, they don’t play [in the] Champions League. I think he wants to play Champions League. So, that’s unfortunate for Man United. It’s going to be difficult, a lot of them maybe have a Uefa ban, so there’s a lot that’s going on still. So I hope he makes the right decision for himself.”

Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson has urged his former team to revive the interest in signing Nabil Fekir from French side Lyon. The France international was on the cusp of joining the Reds from Les Gones last summer but the move fell through at the final hurdle with Jurgen Klopp’s side concerned by the player’s injury history.

Former Liverpool midfielder Graeme Souness has said that there is no quick fix to the problems at Manchester United and the club require more than one transfer window to sort out the mess. The Red Devils have experienced an average 2018/19 season where they have remained outside of the top four places for most of the campaign.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, Souness said that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a massive job ahead with the Red Devils, who have dropped far off from the glory days. He added that the club require a massive spending spree during the forthcoming transfer window, but may not necessarily enhance their prospects of competing for the Premier League crown next term.

Netherlands international Memphis Depay has talked up the prospect of joining one of Europe’s elite teams in the near future. The Dutch attacker has made a name for himself with Les Gones following a nightmarish spell with Manchester United, but he appears to have set his sights on pursuing a bigger challenge elsewhere.
Speaking to Helden Magazine, the former PSV Eindhoven graduate said that Les Gones are a big club but they cannot be compared to some of Europe’s elite including Real Madrid and Chelsea, he quipped: “Lyon is a big club, but not one of the five best in Europe. I want to go to a club like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain or Bayern Munich… I want to go to a city that suits me and a club that suits me, to a team that really wants to play football. I always talk about Real Madrid, a royal club, white shirts with gold. But I’m focused right now on Lyon, and then we see where I end up.”
