Rafael da Silva says Solskjaer is the right man for the United job

Former Manchester United defender Rafael da Silva has backed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to take the club back to their glory days. The Red Devils have not won the Premier League since their final campaign (2012/2013) under Sir Alex Ferguson and during this period, they have not come close to challenging for the English crown.

The current season has been a similar story with arch-rivals Liverpool 37 points ahead of them on the table and on course to win their maiden Premier League trophy. This has definitely frustrated a section of the club’s fans but Rafael is confident that the club will make the right transition under the guidance of Solskjaer. In an exclusive interview covered by Stretty News, he told: “Ole [Gunner Solskjaer] has come back and he will do everything to help you play better. I love Ole. I think he’s the right guy to make this club Manchester United again and bring us back where we belong.”

United have lacked the consistency in the league over the past seven years and the story has been quite the same during the ongoing campaign. They were able to go 11 matches unbeaten across all competitions before the coronavirus shutdown but that included a couple of frustrating draws against Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
They are currently fifth on the table with a three-point difference over fourth-placed Chelsea. As things stand, they can qualify for the Champions League with the fifth position, given Manchester City, who are second on the table, are banned from European club competitions for the next two years. However, the Cityzens have already appealed the decision at the Court of Arbitration for Sport and should the verdict come in their favour next month, United must make the top four for Champions League qualification through the league. Of course, they can also reach the competition next season by winning the Europa League title.
