Harry Maguire says Manchester United are right in the top four hunt

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has acknowledged that the Red Devils have the top four in sight after the 2-1 Premier League win over Manchester City on the road. The Red Devils returned from the international break with a couple of frustrating draws against Sheffield United and Aston Villa but they have since redeemed themselves with back-to-back victories over Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.

This has certainly lifted the mood within the United camp and Maguire believes the club can hunt down Chelsea for the fourth spot, should they continue with the current run of form. He added that the club should not focus on the proceedings of their top four rivals and they should instead seek to get maximum points from whomever they face.

"The top four is in sight but we need to look after our own results and keep trying to get the three points, and keep improving. We’ve got another big game next week against Everton. We need to keep winning games. We’ve won back-to-back games against Spurs and City,” he was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

Maguire has received some criticism for his performances in recent weeks
but he has made up for the same with resolute displays against Spurs and the Citizens. Aside from Maguire, several other United players have stepped up to the plate and the victories have ensured that the speculation over Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s future has ceased.

The Red Devils’ next league meeting
comes against Everton on the road and the match promises a different prospect for them. For the past two games, they have been able to counter-attack Spurs and the Citizens with efficiency but the Toffees could present a different challenge as they could sit back and defend rather than playing with a highline. The Merseyside outfit recently sealed a surprise 3-1 win over Chelsea.
