Cardiff Happy With Strong Start

Cardiff City boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has stated that he is extremely happy with the way his team have started the new Championship season. Cardiff were relegated from the Premier League last season after finishing bottom of the table. However, subsequent strengthening during the transfer window has listed them as one of the favourites to get promoted straight back up. Some key players like Fabio Da Silva and Federico Macheda have been signed during this period. They have contributed to Cardiff’s unbeaten start to the new season.

The club are top of the table after three matches of the season. They have won two and drawn the other. They appear to have carried on from the pre-season form during which they were quite confident of winning matches. The only blemish has come on the opening day of the season when they could only manage a 1-1 draw with Blackburn. Cardiff have also progressed to the next stage of the League Cup with a 2-1 win over Coventry City. Many doubts were raised about Solskjaer’s ability to lead the team back into the Premier league after he failed to arrest the slide following his takeover from Mackay in the second half of the season.

However, he appears to be answering those doubts in an emphatic manner. "I don't think we could have asked for a lot more. Blackburn away in the league's opener was maybe the toughest we could have got. But we dug in and got a point there and we dug in tonight and got three points, so the attitude and work rate is fantastic. It's a goal poacher's goal. Nicky is where he should be. We didn't give the strikers a lot of service, but of course you get a chance and you take it like Nicky did - he's earned his money," said the Cardiff boss after the win over Wigan.
