Arsenal legend Robert Pires believes Moussa Dembele has fared well since making the summer move to Lyon from Celtic. The Frenchman had made a huge name for himself during his two seasons with the Hoops but he could not resist the prospect of joining Les Gones before the transfer deadline during the summer.

Since then, he has been in-and-out of the first-team but he has since impressed with three goals and two assists from just six league appearances. In a report covered by The Star, Pires said that Dembele may take some time to adapt to the pace of the league but he has nevertheless has the credentials to be a success with the French giants.

He quipped:“Dembele played very well when he was at Celtic. But, for any French player, an opportunity to sign for Lyon is very tempting because they are a very good club in France. I think he can help Lyon. He is fast, has very good skills and can score goals. He looks like he will be very important to that team. When you change country it is totally different. In Scotland it might be more physical than France, so you need that period to adapt. But I think he has started well at Lyon, showing why they spent that money.”

Dembele had been associated with a potential move to “Premier League over the past year but Celtic were not keen on parting ways with the Frenchman.“ However, in a surprise change of events, the Scottish champions sanctioned his sale to Les Gones last summer, and they have since “looked upon Odsonne Edouard“ to lead the line after sealing his permanent move from Paris Saint-Germain.

The 20-year-old had an impressive debut season with the Hoops last term where he contributed 11 goals and the progress convinced them to pay up a club-record fee to lure him from Parc des Princes.
