Many of the key issues in this coming Premiership season – but particularly the title race – are liable to be hard to put good bets on, because so many changes have taken place since the end of last season. The new managers, plus the absence of early transfer dealings, make it hard to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the two Manchester sides and Chelsea – although the bookies have put the Red Devils in the position of favourites, on 9/4 to retain their crown.
